Saturday afternoon was both a fight for competition points and a farewell for a valued member of the Glen Innes Tennis Club committee.
The Saturday afternoon teams competition continued and players held a special afternoon tea for club secretary Chris Smith who is now in China for the remainder of the year.
There were no surprises in the final results of the day while some teams did have to fight for their victories. Col Hull’s team needed to pull out their best form in the final two sets to overcome Matthew Miller’s team while Neil Dunbar’s team were successful against Sue Rees’ team with the same score.
Mavis Haselwood’s team were never in any trouble against Luke Morris’ team as they shot out to a 4-0set lead and maintained it to win 6-2sets.
The competition continues this Saturday with Mavis Haselwood’s team having the bye.
Congratulations to Andy McCowen and Genievieve Whitehead who were the winners of last week’s prizes and Gage Marshall and Kiara VanDerWaal who were the winners of this week’s prizes for great sportsmanship and improvement at Saturday morning coaching.
