Four locals kick goal for cancer

Four locals have been selected to play as part of the main feature game between Member for Northern Tablelands Richard Torbay’s Tablelands XI and Graham Parson’s President’s XI in the Armidale and District Football Association’s ‘Kick a Goal for Cancer’in Armidale this Sunday.

Glen Innes Highlanders Jason Reed and Thomas Gower will play for the Tablelands while Anthony Chaffey and Hannah McCarney will play for the Presidents team. The main game kicks off at 2pm.

The aim of the day, which commences at 10am, is to raise money for the Oncology Unit of Armidales Rural Referral hospital. Sunday will see a number of grudge matches take place including a round robin between the local government areas within Mr Torbay’s electorate as Mayor Steve Tom’s team faces off against the other Mayors in the region.

16/12/2008 | So we now have desperate parents attempting to bribe teachers to get their children into a selective high school. What a sad indictment of our education policies, the holy grail of which is parental choice.
