Winners

Sub Junior Girls.

Winner Tayla Fuller (GIPS 11 yrs girls swimming champion; r/up northern New England District swimming; member GIPS Open girls netball team that played in state knockout; qualifed as netball umpire; member GIPS Open girls touch team in State knockout and selected for state trials.

Runner up Jessica Davies (GIPS 11 years girls cross country runner up; member GIPS Open netball team and selected for Area trials; qualified as netball umpire.)

Sub Junior Boys

Winner Mitchell Cook (various achievements including competing at State level in swimming, rugby league, cross country and athletics; GIPS 11 years champion in swimming, cross country, athletics; selected for Northern Tablelands junior cricket team.

Runner up Ashley-Charles Whitehead (won 10 yrs discus at Poliding trials and then came 10th in State at PSSA championships).

Junior Girls

Winner Laura Whan (various achievements in several sports including competing at State level in tennis, athletics, swimming; GIHS 14 yrs champion in swimming, cross country, athletics, also played in zone trials in touch football.)

Runner up Kelly Archibald (various achievements including being invited to trials for Newcastle Jets W Women’s football side; invited to trial for Salem International University, West Virginia USA for women’s football; competed at Qantas national girls 17s in 2008 as number 1 goalkeeper; CHS Firsts shadow keeper open girls football; appointed assistant coach at NIAS for women’s football 2008; CHS open girls cricket 2006-08).

Junior boys

Winner Aaron Flaherty (played in NSW CHSSA state cricket championships; selected to play in NSW schools’ State side).

Runner up Joel Jackson (member of both the Magpies under 18s and A Grade rugby league premiership sides; Group 19 best and fairest, leading try scorer and point scorer; signed contract to play with West Tigers NRL club.)

Senior men

Winner Brian Lewis (winner of A Grade mens singles and pernered winning men’s doubles and mixed doubles in tennis.)

Masters

Winner Neville McIntyre (athletics, coming first in 60m and 100m and second in 400m and 200m at the Oceana Masters Games at Townsville in July).

Sub junior team

GIPS senior boys 4 x 50m swimming relay team (represented NW area at State championships)

GI Rugby League Under 18’s team

GI Rugby League A grade Team

16/12/2008 | So we now have desperate parents attempting to bribe teachers to get their children into a selective high school. What a sad indictment of our education policies, the holy grail of which is parental choice.
