New committee for bowlers

7/08/2008 10:46:00 AM
THE Men’s Bowling Club held its AGM on Sunday. A full committee was elected, a good sign of things to come this year.

The new committee is president Ray Brown, vice presidents Alan Beehag and Les Bushell, secretary Barry Tomlinson, treasurer Brian Orvad, games convenor Neil Cameron, publicity officer Joe Hannah, committee members Dave Crawford, Andrew Whyte, Terry Shephard, Trevor Pevy and Ray Whan, with Murray Stewart again appointed club patron. Neil Cameron, Dave Crawford and Ian Pringle are pennants selectors.

After the annual general meeting, a barbecue was held followed by a revised format for the Kevin Fakes Shield which is a 21-end about triples game in which all players take a turn as the skip. The game was held in fine weather and a great time was had by all, with the eventual winners being Maurie Dunn, Wes Fisher and Murray Stewart and no mention of the five wrong-bias bowls put down by our president Ray (and he was sober at the time).

16/12/2008 | So we now have desperate parents attempting to bribe teachers to get their children into a selective high school. What a sad indictment of our education policies, the holy grail of which is parental choice.
