Public submissions have now closed for four current proposed development applications (DAs) within the community.
The DA to demolish the Roxy Theatre received four additional submissions to the 46 previous notifications presented for councils consideration at Council’s October meeting. Council had voted to defer the decision until it had received a development application for the proposed McDonalds for this site.
The proposal to build a McDonalds received four submissions in response to the development application while the neighbouring proposed Woolworths Service Station received one public submission.
The submissions for the Woolworths service station, McDonalds and the Roxy demolition will be passed onto the independent consultants GeoLink from Coffs Harbour that is assessing these issues.
Council is expected to consider the DAs concurrently, at its meeting on Thursday June 26. However, council spokesperson Catherine McBride said that this would depend on whether all the necessary information from other organisations, such as the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) had been received.
“When the DA for the demolition of the Roxy was considered last year, the information from the submissions was summarised in a table, which was included in an annexure, and this may occur again,” Ms McBride said. “The public submissions themselves cannot be reproduced for inclusion in an annexure, because of issues relating to privacy and confidentiality.”
Twenty seven public submissions were received in response to the proposed draft development control plan for wind power generation. The plan was formulated by Glen Innes Severn Council’s Director of Development and Environmental Services Graham Price in response to concern by the Glen Innes Landscape Guardians group that council had no guidelines for those windfarms proposals, which are not considered State significant, where Council is the consent authority.
The proposed guidelines will be discussed at the next council meeting to be held at the Glen Innes Learning Centre next Thursday May 22. The public consultation period commences at 9:15am with the council meeting commencing at 9:30.
