Bank staff clown around for a serious cause

22/07/2008 9:07:00 AM
The main street was filled with colour, energy and smiles on Friday and all for a good cause.

The staff of the Glen Innes Commonwealth Bank branch sported clown outfits in support of the Tamworth Ronald McDonald House that is currently being constructed.

The Commonwealth clowns collected donations from not only those going about their shopping but also the staff at the businesses and customers who visited the bank throughout the day. As a result of their energy the public opened up their pockets to raise a total of $1,878.45.

Bank manager Mandy Crisp said Ronald McDonald House had always been a charity the bank had supported and is a service utilised by some Glen Innes residents.

“There have been people from Glen Innes that have used the Hunter house in Newcastle and I’m sure there will be people using the Tamworth one as well,” she said.

“Both the bank and Ronald McDonald House really want to thank everyone for their support.”

Donations will continue to be taken at the Commonwealth Bank for anyone wishing to make a donation that the clowns may have missed on Friday.
